Instructor qualifications
Course Outline & Learning Objectives
- Instrument Familiarity: Identify key components (joystick, illumination arm, slit width/height controls, magnification changer).
- Setup & Hygiene: Proper cleaning of contact surfaces, adjusting binocular oculars for interpupillary distance, and setting diopter correction.
- Patient Positioning: Aligning the patient's chin and forehead comfortably, aligning the lateral orbital wall with the guide mark.
- Illumination Techniques:

- Direct Focal (Parallelepiped): Narrow beam to focus on specific corneal layers, stroma, and iris.
- Cobalt Blue Light: Used with fluorescein dye to identify corneal abrasions or dry spots.
- Systematic Examination: Developing a routine to examine eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, and lens.
- Contact Lens Application: Using the slit lamp to assess lens fit, movement, and corneal health
Learning Objectives
