About the Program Course Content

Course will prepare you for the national contact lens exam to become a registered dispensing optician as a registered healthcare profession who interprets prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists to fit contact lenses, and other visual aids. ย 

Dispensing optician prep courses are designed to prepare students for the ABO/NCLE certification exams, focusing on optical theory, lens technology, ophthalmic dispensing, and anatomy of the eye lead by experienced professionals.

  • Frame and Lens Selection: Advises patients on appropriate frame styles, lens materials, and coatings tailored to their specific visual and lifestyle needs.
  • Measurements: Uses tools like a pupillary distance ruler or lensometer to record precise measurements for proper fit and alignment.
  • Fitting and Repairs: Adjusts frames, repairs broken eyeglasses, and provides instructions on wearing and maintaining eyewear.
  • Prepare for the national spectacles lens dispensing examination
